- Biography
When I take photographs I try to expose the paradox of the image in its resemblance to the paradox of our existence now: a perpetual back and forth between the imaginary and the real, a vital yet doomed-in-advance striving to know where we are.
Mathieu Bernard-Reymond is a French photographer living in Switzerland. He studied in politics, and art history in Grenoble, France. His photography deals with landscape, architecture and the media. His use of new technologies aims to question the photographic medium through a new poetic approach.
Mathieu Bernard-Reymond won different prices such as the No-Limit Prize of the International Festival of Arles (France) or the Arcimboldo prize for Digital Photography. His work has been exhibited in numerous places in Europe, United States and Asia, and has found its place in the collections of both private individuals and public institutions like the Musée Nicéphore Niépce (F), Musée de l’Elysée (CH), and Fond National pour l’Art Contemporain (F).
Mathieu Bernard-Reymond is a member of the transcontinental network of photographers “Piece Of Cake”.
