Quand je prends des photos, j'essaie d'exposer le paradoxe de l'image dans sa ressemblance avec le paradoxe de notre existence aujourd'hui : un va-et-vient perpétuel entre l'imaginaire et le réel, un effort déjà condamné de savoir où nous sommes.

Mathieu Bernard -Reymond est un photographe français vivant en Suisse. Il a étudié la politique et histoire de l'art à Grenoble, en France. Sa photographie s’intéresse au paysage, à l'architecture et aux médias. Son utilisation des nouvelles technologies vise à questionner le médium photographique à travers une nouvelle approche poétique.

Mathieu Bernard -Reymond a remporté différents prix notamment le Prix No-Limit du Festival International d'Arles (France) ou le prix Arcimboldo pour la photographie numérique. Son travail a été exposé dans de nombreux endroits en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Asie, et a trouvé sa place dans les collections de particuliers et d'institutions publiques telles que le Musée Nicéphore Niépce (F), le Musée de l'Elysée (CH), et le Fond National pour l'Art Contemporain (F).

Mathieu Bernard -Reymond est membre du réseau transcontinental de photographes “Piece Of Cake”.

When I take photographs I try to expose the paradox of the image in its resemblance to the paradox of our existence now: a perpetual back and forth between the imaginary and the real, a vital yet doomed-in-advance striving to know where we are.

Mathieu Bernard-Reymond (36) is a French photographer living in Switzerland. He studied in politics, and art history in Grenoble,
France. His photography deals with landscape, architecture and the media. His use of new technologies aims to question the photographic
medium through a new poetic approach. In 2003 he was awarded the HSBC Fundation for Photography Prize. In 2005, he won
the No-Limit Prize of the International Festival of Arles (France). In 2006, Paris photo and BMW chose to give their first prize to works
by Mathieu Bernard-Reymond. In 2009, he was awarded the Arcimboldo prize for Digital Photography.
His work has been exhibited in numerous places in Europe, United States and Asia, and has found its place in the collections of both
private individuals and public institutions like the Musée Nicéphore Niépce (F), Musée de l’Elysée (CH), and Fonds National pour l’Art
contemporain (F).
Mathieu Bernard-Reymond is a member of the transcontinental network of
photographers “Piece Of Cake”.
