• Biography

Led by the bassist and composer Emmanuel de Gouvello the band MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT is established since 1986 near Montpellier.

MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT plays create a mixed music engaged with its time. The word "jazz" is taken here in its broadest sense, in all it implies open-minded, nonconformity, integration with other musicals style, musical adventure...

MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT music is characterized by the Mediterranean temperament of its musicians, a reminiscent of traditional melodies, an undisguised attraction to the East, a rock energy, a vital humor, a mixture withholding emotions and generous outbursts.

MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT made concert tours in many countries. From these trips and meetings abroad were born several original creations with Eastern Europe, Asian, Indian and African musicians. CD recordings have been made in France and abroad.
