• Biography

Matthieu Gafsou (born in 1981) lives and works in Lausanne. After a university education (master's degree in history and aesthetics of cinema, philosophy and literature), he studied photography at the School of Applied arts at Vevey (2006-2008).

Since 2006, he has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Europe and the United-States. He received in 2009 the price of the HSBC Foundation for Photography and has been included in the reGeneration2 exhibition organized by the Musée de l'Elysée, which presents young photographers from all over the world. In 2009, he published "Surfaces", Actes Sud edition. In 2012, he published "Alps" in 19/80 Publishing and "Sacred" in IDPURE. Since the same year, he teaches at the High School of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL).
